I just got back from about 7 months abroad and I came away with a lot of the same sentiments. For me I think part of it is that we were raised in the U.S. and the culture here really feels like home. The other part of it is that I found it difficult to appreciate the good things about American culture until seeing it contrasted with a few other cultures. Whatever the reasons, its nice to see someone else come away with similar sentiments. I hope you enjoy the rest of your year. Just wanted to interject that nostalgia for small businesses has turned into a lefty thing, of late ... if you were really a Republican, you'd know that small businesses being crowded out by massive corporations simply proves that capitalism is working as it should.
